after GC to renew native passport or not?

my wife came here as a derivative of political asylum and she got her GC via marriage with me(an u.s. citizen). we plan to go back to her COP next january for two weeks and her native passport will be expire march of next year, should she go ahead and renew her passport now or just forget about it because she probably won't going back there again until she becomes a u.s. citizen.

yeah, i remember that thread, but that was about my wife been worried about going back to her COP. she's over that now finally, now the question is whether she should renew her NP incase we have to go on a vacation in the next year or two before her citizenship. her cousin came here as a derivative also and he just received his GC, when he went to the local embassy to renew his NP they gave him some hard time but eventually renewaled his NP.

Since her GC is based on "Marriage to a US citizen", she should definitely renew her GC just in case she had to travel until she gets her US passport. People who have CR6 category GC have no harmful consequences for renewing their NP whatsoever.

thanks :) is there any difference between renewal her np locally or renewal it in her cop when we go there later this year?
 
Nope

It wouldn't make a bit difference. If I were you, I'd renew it here so that when she travels her passport doesn't have a limited validity. A lot of country are really picky when issuing visa if your passport is not valid for more that six months. Also, I have found it easier to deal with the Consulate offices here in US as compared to some local offices in the native country but that all depends what country you are dealing with.
