I think the consensus among all lawyers now is that after the recent changes in AC21, six months after the 485 date is the maximum that you must continue working for the employer who sponsored you - whether or not your 485 is approved. The only difference is that if your 485 is not yet approved, you can only work in the same or similar job, and if it is approved, you can work in any job.
