Friends,

I got mapproval and passport stamped two weeks back ( I posted about this already) Now I have two question:
1. I had interview in local office and got approval. so how can I track my Plastic card?.
My wife and kid are planing for trip to India and I have get them either UK or French visa (Transit). they dont accept the passport stamping :mad:
2. Do I have to change my SSN card ?. (of couser the # will not change).
The current card says "for work authorization only" , so will this change?.
do I need plastic card for that?. what is the procedure?.

1. You can get the status using your 484 receipt no, in the USCIS site.
2. It is better to get the restriction removed from the SSN.(SSN w/o restriction and any ID is OK for Employment Authorization).

---> You can track status change on 485 at uscis.gov or call the 800 number there. Either way, you may not get much updates on when to expect your card, which can take from 2 weeks to several months depending on where you live. Ask other members here from your city about the time it took for them to get the card or check rupnet.com

---> Go to the local SSN office and show them your GC stamp. They will guide you thru forms to fill etc. Subsequently, you will receive your new SSN card in the mail with "Work with INS authorization" removed from it.

Thanks Guys,

But the problem is the web site status did not change yet. It is still showing that my case "was transfered to local office" . and also among my freinds here each has different experiance . some got the card in a month , others are still waiting for more than 5 months. as usual there is no logic. :(

I am also in a similar situation as urs. I had my stamping at st.louis office on 16-FEB-2005. SInce its a transfered case the online status still shows as

"On December 14, 2004, we transferred your I485 Application to Register Permanent Residence or to Adjust Status to our office in ST LOUIS, MO for them to schedule and conduct your interview"

Any updates...I have the same questions as urs

1. How to track the card ?

Advise appreciated..
