After approval question

I've received back the original documents that I sent as RFE and a letter stating that my application was approved and the approval notice is sent in a separate envelope.
Since I haven't received the approval notice yet (and my experience is it may take a week or so) my question is can I go to get the stamp just with this letter (I assume they should check the approval by using their computer system)? Guys/gals who got approved what did they ask you to present when you went to get a stamp (other than passport, I-94 and photos)?
I have a trip to Germany planned for beggining of may and am anxious to buy the tickets early while they are still priced for low season.

Also I tried to schedule an Infopass appointment on-line but it says that there are no Infopass appoinments available at my local service center (Miami, FL). I guess that means that I just have to show up and stand in line.

What documents did you send as RFE - originals or just copies? The reason I'm asking is that INS loses documents a lot and I don't like the idea of sending them the originals (like I have a choice :) )

Originals

They specifically stated that they wanted original passport and/or any travel documents issued by USCIS so I sent those originals. For the rest they requested certified copies.

Alex_e38 -

When going in for your greencard processing, CIS requires the following:
- Passport style photos
(2 if you have a passport for stamping/ 3 if you require a temp. greencard)
*The temp greencard is what i recommend for asylees.

- Passport
(if you want it stamped)

- And ORIGINAL approval notice

I know you are anxious to get the planning of your trips finalized but it is highly unlikely that CIS will process your I-89 form (and give you a temp greencard) with that letter. From my experience, they take the original approval notice, attach your pictures and I-89 form to send back to Nebraska for greencard processing.

If you are really anxious, go ahead and give it a try and please let us know what happens. I would suggest for you to just go in if INFOPASS is not available in your area.
