Affidavit of Support

Hi All,

I'm currently petitioning for my husband to come to the US. Because I have been living in Canada with him and our two children for the last 5 years and have not been working I am unable to meet the income requirements for the affidavit of support. We already have a joint sponsor lined but the problem is she also helped her husband immigrate to the US and is unsure of whether or not she had to fill out an affidavit of support and therefore unable to answer the part that asks how many other immigrants she has sponsored. Basically, she just needs to know if there is somewhere she can check to see if she was his sponsor and if so how much longer her sponsorship is required. Does anyone know if there is a way t find this out.

Just a note: she lives in NY and her house flooded during Hurricane Sandy and she is unsure if she still has the original paperwork from the past immigration!

If she petitioned her husband, then she had to fill out an affidavit of support. There is no such thing as "how much longer her sponsorship is required". It basically only ends if 1) her husband becomes a U.S. citizen, or 2) her husband earns 40 quarters of Social Security credits.
