Hi guys,
Have a question on I-134

I-134 form asks for deposits made in the past year, but our bank, Wells Fago, says their standard template doesn't have that information and they gave only the date the account was opened and the present balance. They said, if I need more information, I need to call their 1-800 number and request for it, there will be a charge for it.

But the bank says those 2 pieces of information is sufficient.

Do I need to shell out some bucks and that information in the letter or will date account opened and the present balance will suffice. I plan to include recent bank staments anyway.

Could any one kindly reply.

The letter from the bank that shows the date the account opened, the current balance and the average balance in the last year would be sufficient.
Apart from this take 4 or 5 monthly statements that would anyway show the deposits going into the account.

This is particularly relevant if your salary is directly credited to this account. This would establish the fact of your continued employment.

If it is just a couple of dollars (<50 say), I would rather spend it and get the document instead of risking a rejection which is painful and also costs much more to reapply.

The bank account is not required to show continued employment - it is required to show that you have enough finances to support the invited visitors. And without showing the fact that you have had this money in the bank for a while and are not just depositing it now, there is no way for the Consulate to believe that you can do it.

Thanks, but

Thanks for your replies. The letter that they gave doesn't have average balance or the deposits made in the past year. My direct deposit is made to that account, that can be proven from the monthly statements that I plan to enclose.

Will the present balance, date of the account opened and few monthly statements be sufficient. They said thats what they give to everybody and no body complained. Would like to hear experiances of the people that went to visa interview with just these pieces of information.

Thanks again for your kind replies, Raju and ab

I think the letter is sufficient.

From all of the cases that I've heard (& known personally) about rejection during interview, the officer rarely looks at the paperwork that the applicant has.
They never see the 131/bank letters etc etc --- they just ask some seemingly normal questions and reject it w/o reason.

So sending the more detailed letter would probably won't make any difference -- the basic letter and copies of the bank statements should suffice.

Old practice was, borrow money from friends and deposit it in the account and request for letter from bank. Now, INS, realized this fact.
Original 3-4 months bank statements are must along with bank letter.

Thanks guys, I am convinced that the letter + bank statements will be sufficient and the decision they make would not depend on this.
