Here is my situation:
1. US Permanent filed I-130 for spouse, who is in Vietnam
2. Priority date: 06-22-2002

Here is what I read for filling a Affidavit of Support:

"You are required to provide U.S. Federal income tax returns for the 3 most recent tax years as well as proof of current employment."

My problem is, since I have been in school for all these years and even next year, I will not have any tax report (for my own) when our priority date become effective. I have been here for 04 years already. The first year I came here, I worked. But then I came back to school to get some diploma.

I just wonder what exactly could affect to my case (slow down the process???). If I ask my sister for a "joint sponsor", would it help?

I appreciate for your advice.

Thank you for replying,

I wonder having my old sister be "joint sponsor" will actually give any bad effect to my case? (in reality).

LanThuy.

Pl read the requirements for a Joint sponsor under the instructions sections. It is clearly mentioned who can/cannot be a sponsor.

According to the website, my older sister can be "Joint sponsor" in my case. She passes all the requirement of poverty.

I just wonder if having someone else be "joint sponsor" would make any negative effect? (in reality).

A joint sponsor need not be a relative. It could be anyone who qualifies. And to answer your question, NO, it does not have any negative or positive effect.
