Hello everybody,

I'm getting all my paperwork ready for my DV interview in April, and since I'll ask I friend of mine to fill out an affidavit of support for me, now I need to know which is the correct form: I-134 or I-864. In some forums the I-134 is mentioned... but in others is the I-864

As I just said, my sponsor will be a friend not a familly member.

Thanks

In my friends letter with the interview date it was stated I-864, but she took a I-134 with her. She didn't need one due to having more then enough proof offunding but since the person conducting the interviewkept asking her questions she at one point just showed him she had a I-134 and he did take it and stated, well we already knew you wouldn't apply for welfare but now we know for sure and kept the paper...then she got her passport stamped and the letter that she was approved:)

Hello Lluna,

Even though the I-134 is the form required for DV cases, sometimes the Immigration Officer would require I-864 which is more extensive. I-864 is a legally binding contract that the sponsor will be financially responsible for the immigrant in the event the immigrant attempts to benefit from certain federal aid programs.

If they require an Affidavit of Support in the interview appointment letter, then you NEED to bring the one that is specifically required. Otherwise, if you want, you can bring I-134.

Good luck

Thanks for the info, I guess I'll prepare de I-134 since I want to bring it, just in case...
