Affidavit of support DV-2011

Hi guys,

I received my 2nd NL from KCC, and my interview will be the last week of October.

I'm getting ready, and preparing all the docs.

I'm a bachelor student in Economics, going to have my last exams this month, and I don't have any work experience, just some internship.

I was reading that in the interview you have to demonstrate you will not be a charge for the Government...Do I need an Affidavit of support? Will it be OK if my parents will transfer me some money on my bank account?

Thank you in advance for your replies.

Hi usa88,
Some embassies don't even ask about an affidavit of support if you are single. However, it is better to have some kind of document that proves you will not be a public charge in the US. The documents can be one or more of the following: 1) Your own bank statement which shows an account above 100% of the poverty line. 2) An employment letter for yourself from a company in USA. 3) Affidavit of support from a legal permanent resident or a citizen of USA (I-134 form signed by your sponsor, bank statement of your sponsor, tax return of your sponsor for the year 2009, employment letter for your sponsor.) Good luck.

Showing a bank statement is better then none, but officially they can ask where the money comes from and in the past there was something about having it at least for 6 months in your account. Since you have a good education, you might not need it...but in the end it is up to the person conducting the interview.

Good Luck:)
