Affidavit of Support and loss of job

I have given an affidavit of support for my mother-in-law's green card. My wife is a citizen and she doesn't work. Now I lost my job and contemplating applying for unemployment benefits.

My mother in law has an interview scheduled in June. I think I can find a good job before June but not completely sure of it yet.

Is applying for unemployment benefits a bad thing. I do not want to jeopordize her green card.

At this point can we have some one else give an affidavit of suuport? Or can I just show my assets to cover the affidavit of support? If So how much would I have to show.

Appreciate any help.

I think you can find somebody to sponsor her, some friend or family member. Also you can show your asset of value above the 125% poverty line for your family size. I would suggest you to be prepared with all this paperworks and go for an interview. I f the officer says that since you do not have a job you can not sponsor her keep your other two options ready. Make a two affidavite of support papers ready. One with your friend/family members income and another with your assets.
