affect of DUI on H1/stamping/GC

Hi all,

I had an unfortunate experience a few days back. I was arrested for a DUI misdemeanor. I have hired a good attorney and hoping things might get a little better. The first court date is in january '10 and the process could take 2-5 mos.

My concern is that in a worst case scenario if I end up getting convicted for this first offense of mine, how does it affect my H1 extension ? (my 6yr expiration is on jul'10 ). I have my I140 approved already.

If I go to india now would i be facing any problems when i go for stamping?
does it affect my green card anyway?

Why is it unfortunate? It is better that you got stopped before you caused any damage to yourself or others.
A single DUI should not impede your GC process. Having said that, a lot will depend on the charge, the state, the verdict, etc.
