You should contact both your Senators as well as your Congressman.
1. Start by sending out letters explaining that you are a legal immigrant and a member of immigrationportal.com community, and that you have a problem.
2. Explain the issues about the backlogs to the best of your ability.
3. Send the fax/email/registered mail letter a couple of times if you don't hear a response.
4. Follow the letters with a phone call, and ask to speak to someone in the office who deals with immigration.
5. Request face time with the official or the Congressman/Senator directly.
