hi everyone, there are some question that i need to ask. my wife and i files my I 485 and EAD on april 23, 2003 in philadelphia with a lawyer. The lawyer told us that in three week i should receive two letter, one is for EAD and the other for Finger print. we never receive any letter so we called the lawyer office to let them know. His asistance told us that we should wait abit more because there is backlog at the philadelphia ins office, ok so we wait. We called again to let them know that we do not receive any thing as yet, so the lawyer asistance told us that we have to wait 90 days, ok then we wait. 90 business day pass, so we called again to let them know, his asistance told us that we need to wait abit more because of the backlog, we waited again. It was getting so frustrated that we just keeping on calling, tell the lawyer asistance told us to come in to see the lawyer. When we go at the lawyer office to speak to him, he told us that he never know that we were calling because his asistance never told him (that was august 31). The lawyer told us that he is sorry about everything because he did not know. He told us that he is going to go to the ins office to see what is going on (that was the day after labor day sep 1) and then he is going to called us to tell us what going on, he never did. everytime we called and ask for him we got is asistance and she always say to wait. It have being 112 business days not 112 days and up till this day, no finger print or EAD. My wife called again and ask what is going on, so they told her that in two week we should get letters from ins, so we wait again. Guess what!!! no letters. My wife get upset and go to the lawyer office and she asked for copy of the receipts so that we go to the ins office ourself, they told her to come back today(10/2/03). Guess what again, the lawyer office closed, my wife get so upset she told me that she leave a upset mesage. Is there anyone that can give me a good advice, for real i am having some bad head aches. Please respond some one.
 
Is yours is Family based GC? Do you have receipt notices for your I-485 and EAD applications? What is notice date on that? Please give that kind of details, which will help to understand the case.

Usually no one gets EAD in three weeks. But some lucky one might have received in three weeks. It will take any where between one month and three months for approval at Vermont service center.
Since you have applied in April you should have received it by now.

Since you have completed 90 days if you have receipts you can go to Local BCIS office and get an Interim EAD, which you can use.

It is a marriage case, my wife is a citizen. The lawyer have all the receipts, he never give us a copy.
 
He has to give you the receipts. You ask him to provide receipts. Did you also apply for I-130? Post these issues on Family based cases Forum. You will get good responses
 
Seems like your lawyer is a fake. Get the receipt notices from him, note the case numbers (EAC-03-..) and go to the BCIS web site's case online status page and check the status yourself and don't bother calling your lawyer again.

I email my lawyer and he email me back and this is what he said:

Dear Courtney:

Thank you for your email. I apologize for the undue delay that has occurred in the processing of your application. Please come to my office on Tuesday (10/7) to pick up the official receipt for the processing of your case which we were able to obtain last week. The significance of this receipt is that you can now expect to receive via mail to your home within the next 2-3 weeks the appointment notice to pick up your employment authorization document, and your appointment to get your fingerprints taken at the BCIS Application Support Center at 8th and Arch Streets here in Philadelphia. I will not be in the office on Monday (10/6) but will return on Tuesday (10/7). If you wish us to mail or fax you the receipt please let us know and we may do so for your convenience. Thanks again for your patience, and I look forward to speaking with you real soon.

Do yu think that my lawyer just send in my papers to the ins office. I thought that when yu applied they give yu the receipts right there. if any advice please respond.
 
Once you get the receipt you will come to know actual dates. Collect it ASAP. Post your notice date and receipt date.
