Hi!

I am new and hope I am in the right forum. I need some advice. I am on a TN from Canada. Been working in CA for 8 months. My fiance and I are getting married in May. We plan to go to the UK for our honeymoon a few days after the wedding. We have everything planned out and are really excited about the trip. A TN allows me to travel so I think it should be ok, but we just want to make sure before booking our flights.

Thank you.

Big problem. a TN does NOT allow you to re-enter US once married to a USC living in US!
Tners who demonstrate immigration intent (and marryimng a USC is definite immig intent) must remain in US until they get there new status. So, you if you leave US after marriage, it is quite doubrtful that you would be re-admitted at all, never mind TN. You would be told to get a spoudal visa, which would take a year, and remain outside US.

So, yoiu must marry and honeymoon in US (not even visiting canada), and immediately apply for I-130/I-485/I-131/I-675/ Only after getting AP and EAD (which will take 2-3 moinths)will you be safe to travel and keep your job.

This is a common problem faced by TNers marrying a local.

Glad you questionned your assumptions, otherwise you would have been screwed, losing your job and being separated from your new spouse.

Thank you, Nelsona.

Thank you so much for taking the time to give me your advice. Not thrilled at all about the US-bound honeymoon, I must say. Thank you again.
