Myself and my spouse are in process of applying US citizenship and both are indian citizens. Have been hearing that its advantagoes that only one of the spouse applies for US citzenship and other remains indian citizen & GC holder.

Does anybody know the advantage of this ?

Also we both are indian citizens however my birth place is in Kuwait would that delay the 'name check' process as they have to do in different countries.

Any information is appreciated.

Hi,
Your name check will be delayed or not delayed depending on your first, middle and last names. If there is a "hit", then there will be delays. If there is not, your namecheck will be back within 72 hours. I was born in Karachi, but I was never stuck in the namecheck process during my AOS (2003) and N-400 (2006) processing. I reckon that was due to my first and last name being uncommon.
I worked for Sprint in Kuwait for 4 years in the mid-90s. Had a nice time there.
Good luck!!!

Depends on your circumstances....

Govt. of India gives some benefits to the full-Indian citizens that are not given to NRIs or PIOs such as:

1) Ability to purchase agricultural land in India;
2) Vote, run for office or hold govt jobs in India;
3) If one spouse is Indian citizen (Indian passport holder), then you are able to adopt a child from India a little bit quickly rather than both spouses with foreign passports.

On the flip side, if both spouses are US citizens, it's generally good for the tax and estate planning purposes, specially if you're rich!!!
