I would like to thank in advance some of you who can help me with my situation.

I just received the receipts from BCIS for my I485 filing. Due to some urgent emergency, I am required to be home and need to be out of this country. I was told that I can go to my local INS office to apply for AP?

Can anyone help me out on this? What should I do? Do I just go to the local INS office and apply. What form is required and how much will it take to file? ALso how long does it take for the local INS office to process AP?

One last question is how long does it take to get our GC once we obtain the I485 receipt? I feel so helpless since filing for GC and there are so many restrictions like not being able to leave the country and be home with my family.

Any replies is highly appreciated. I hope someone can response quickly.

--- I hope you have to apply for AP to your service center where you filed I-485, but if you can have documentary proof for emergency than local BCIS may issue you AP

---- You need form I-131 and visit BCIS site you have all the forms. You need 2 Photographs (same style that you sent with I-485) you have to pay the Fees (check the fee on Form) the time depends on service center it is taking 3-4 months time but if you go to local BCIS office they MAY issue you AP it all depends on BCIS local office. --- No body knows could be around 2 years. Don’t Cry many could not reach to I-485 stage, many are waiting for LC to be cleared for more than 2 years

**** If you are still maintain H1 status with your employer and you have valid H1B visa in your passport you can still use that H1b visa to enter US and no need for AP
*** If no H1B Visa Sticker in passport but have only H1b approval notice you can get the H1B visa in passport from your home country and can enter on H1b visa ( if you are maintaining H1b status with employer) I don’t know your current status
