I recently visited Bombay and had 2 copies of Advance Parole with me. The office in Bombay asked me to give a copy and he kept it with himself. Iwas in a hurry and didnt want to argue.
The other copy is with me (got a stamp when I entered the country from the immigration officer)

a)Is the process normal to keep a copy?

b)If I have to leave the country do I have to keep more copies or can I just use the stamped copy and get a restamp on it?

c)Do I have to apply for more copies ?

d)Can I go to local INS office and get copies?
 
You should not have given the original copy to bombay officer. BOth the original are for u so next time u keep some photocopies and give a copy to them if they ask.
 
Agree with ghost rider. Your employer does not need original AP. You cannot get additional copies anywhere else. You might have to give additional copies to airlines. But once stamped only the stamped copy has value.
Only thing you can apply for is a new AP...
 
Why does INS give 2 original copies?

If sammyboy could enter USA with just one original, why does INS give 2. (Does it think that you might lose one during the year?)

Any ideas?
