Advance Parole taking 2.5 years???? How can it be?

I checked the status of my Advance Parole application oline and this is what I got:

"Your I131 APPLICATION FOR BCIS TRAVEL DOCUMENT was received on December 13, 2002. We mailed you a receipt with information about processing. It is taking between 969 and 999 days for us to process this kind of case. We will mail you a decision as soon as processing is complete."

Is this for real? How can AP take almost three years when I-485 is taking only a year and a half?

Has anybody got AP approvals for RD of around Nov or Dec 2002?
 
You should get the AP soon. I sent mine late Dec. and got the AP last week. So it seems to take about 2 months.
 
My RD was in the second week of December 2002, but AP hasn't been approved yet. EAD was approved within a month though.
 
my RD was 22 jan and got approved in 40 days - so the 969/999 appears to be bul#%^&. though there are rumors about longer AP wait times for citizens of countries requiring registration...
