Advance Parole Question

My H1 visa expired in May 2001 and 6 year period of H1 complted in Feb 2002. Meanwhile I have applied for 485 in July and waiting for approval and already received AP in December which is valid till Nov 2002. I had I-94 extention for the period from May 2001 through Feb2002 which was not stamped as a Visa in the Passport.

Now that I am planning to go India In May using AP. DO I have to be take any additional docs?. I heard many Immigration authorities in India do not know about advance Parole.

Carry the Orginal AP and EAD
Also carry the documents of 485 receipts. You may face some problem abroad. I am talking about India as not all officers know about it. Go early on your departure date. You may need to talk to the superior and those experienced people are aware of AP. But be prepared for delay and hassel so go early.

Some people did have problem in transit too. I mean, in Frankfurt, Gatwick, etc.

Not a problem at PoE.
 
Make copies of page 1 (one with photo) and show evidence of status to airlines.

Most of the airlines staff in India are aware of AP. They get to see at least one AP holder every day. Don\'t worry.

Appreciate for quick reply.
Many people in this column were concerned about the knowledge of Airline staff and immigrtion authorities in small towns of India regarding Adavnce Parole. I am planning to check-in direct from COchin for NYC return trip. Even with regular visa, the immigration/customs ( mostly local Police and airport security) authorities ask many questions and need to show and explain things.

I hope someone who will present and aware of AP during my check-in time.
