Give something like this:

To...
INS Officer..
...
...

Dear Officer,
The undersigned and family will be travelling to ... on. .. for a period of .... I am in need of advance parole for this trip. I have applied for I-485 on ... My receipt # is .... I will also use advance parole to travel to my home country in case an emergency arise.
