It all depends how busy is your local application support center. I went to Detroit ASC 2 weeks in advance but they were pretty busy and asked me to come after a week. So I did get my finger prints taken one week in advance without any problem.

I did my FP three weeks in advance in Boston as my wife due date is pretty close to the original FP date. Initially they said I might have problems while processing my application further but all in all they were pretty understanding and really nice. It was pretty busy (on a Saturday) at Boston APC, but we waited 1 1/2 hr for our turn and it went smoothly and it just took 5 minutes for the actual process itself.
Any one know how long it takes to clear these with FBI and is there a number that I can call and find out? Good luck to you all.
