hi, i would like to ask if i can file i-130 and i-485 together for my wife with whom i have been married for 7 years now. she recently came in with a tourist visa and i would like to file for her adjustment of status. i read at the uscis website under i-130 forms that... "Filing and approval of an I-130 is only the first step in helping a relative immigrate to the United States. Eligible family members must wait until there is a visa number available before they can apply for an immigrant visa or adjustment of status to a lawful permanent resident."
But when i looked at the directions in filing i-130 it also said there..."When a petition is approved for the husband, wife or unmarried minor child of a United States citizen, these persons are classified as immediate relatives. They do not have to wait for a visa number because immediate relatives are not subject to to the immigrant visa limit."
my question is, should i file first the i-130, wait for the approval then file i-485? OR should i file both i-130 and i-485?
should i file my application at the USCIS Chicago lockbox facility?
thanks for your advice.
