Adjust B2 Visa to Permanent status - Marriage

Hello. I married my wife in Brazil nearly a year and a half ago when I was living there legally and had no intentions of returning to live and work in the US at that time. I did have my wife apply for a B2 visa so she could come with me sometimes on my trips to visit the US which she was granted by the local consulate in Brazil. Now I receved a good jb offer in the US sho we just basically got back on the plane and came here. Now we have been here for about 2 weeks and I would like to adjust her status to permanent resident. Should I expect any troubles? Or is this situation OK?

Did she misrepresent anything to the border officer when she entered the U.S.?

Otherwise, it should be okay.

Hi.. We came in together and the woman at the airport from DHS just talked about how cold it was in the airport and where we were going in the US. Nothing else was discussed. My wife is also 5 months pregnant so a trip back to Brazil will likely be only after our baby is born.

When she applied for the B2 visa in Brazil, they actually told her at the consulate that if sometime she planned to live in the US that I could ask for an adjustment of status later. Also, when at the consulate, they did not even ask for any evidence at all that she planned to remain in Brazil living in the future. Only asked if she was married to a US citizen and she said yes.

As I have been here only for 15 days, I thought if I just ran to the DHS office, they might try to cause problems. Should I wait? or should I go now? what do you think?

I would also like to get here a SS number but I think under B2 visa she is not eligible.
 
Applying right now for her green card might make it look too blatant. At least wait until she's completed a month or two since her entry.

The B2 visa won't make her eligible for a SS number. For that she'll have to file for adjustment of status (I-485) along with employment authorization (I-765), then upon receiving the employment authorization (which takes 2-3 months) she can apply for the SS number.

the I-485... is that what I need to get her green card? If so then I should do them both at the same time? also..is it possible to just go to a local DHS office and submit the paperwork? Thanks!
 
I-130 must be filed before or together with the I-485, plus there are several other forms such as the I-693 medical which requires two visits (a few days apart) to a designated civil surgeon. The medical may involve vaccinations, unless she has vaccination records which show that she's already got everything that was necessary based on her age now and when she received the vaccinations.

OK thanks! But what about just dropping into a DHS office...will they just give me the forms to fill out and then submit them at the same place? I have read about doing this for someone who is still over seas... but not when I am in the country with her. Plus she is 5 months pregnant.
 
You can download the forms and print them. The forms have to be supported by various documents, and will take a few hours to read and fill out (not to mention that the medical is at a doctor's office), and there is a specific address where you're supposed to mail them, so you can't fill them out and submit them on the spot at a local USCIS office.
