Address change.

RD is Oct 2001. My FP, EAD, AP every thing is done. If I have to move in same town to different address, is that a problem?

I went thru earlier discussions and confused more. What should I do in order to receive notices? Should I call VCS? Fill out AR11? what\'s next...?

Had anyone been in same situation?

Thanks,

vbk

Aftet you move to your new address, update your company and attorney. If attorney is updating your news address to INS, Call IIO after a month and verify whether your new address is updated in the system. If you do not have attorney, Call IIO and get the information to update INS. If they take the new address directly on phone, update them and also send that form.

You must also file for AR 11

It is on the INS site for download and has to be sent to DC within
10 days of a move.

You MUST file this form now as the INS is working with zero
tolerance and failure to file AR 11 within 10 days of a move is
considered an immigration violation. It is free to file. You also
have to do this after you get the green card every time you move.

Also, I called IIO, she changed the address for me. You can do it
over the phone.

Remember, the post office will not forward INS mail.

Have you been thru this before?

What was your exprience when you talk to IIO. What\'s there phone number to call for VSC?

Thanks for your help.

Experience

I\'ve moved once (recently within town) but had to deal with the
inefficiency of the Pittsburgh postal service who, for no reason,
returned my EAD to VSC as undeliverable mail...

VSC number is 802 527 4913. You have to keep redialling to get
through (it\'s usually taken me around 40 minutes in the
morning).

Both IIOs I spoke to were very helpful and polite. I told the most
recent one that I was moving and she told me she\'d change the
address. She also reminded me about AR-11, which I had in
front of me, and answered my questions about filling in parts of
the form.

I asked her then about my case status (RD 8/17/01, ND
10/12/01) and she said all was fine but it hadn\'t been assigned
to an officer. She mentioned the security checks and said they
were up to 8/1 cases.

Good luck with your move and case.

question for peeps

peeps!

When I call IIO for address change, will the IIO change the address for my spouse also or does my spouse need to be physically present along with me when I call IIO?

Appreciate your response and experience.

Your spouse has to be present

Usually IIOs talk to individual people eventhough they are husband and wife and live in same address. So you and your wife have to talk separately and send separate AR-11 forms. YOu talk to IIO first then tell IIO that you want to update your spouse address also and ususally they ask whether your spouse is near to phone. They will take new address from her.

damn!

what a pain! so just to change my (our) address, I have to travel all the way to my spouse\'s place and call IIO :(

Address change

You dont have to call from your home phone. Any phone is OK. But each one have to talk individually to IIO. It is better if you talk together. There are cases INS sent RFE to show you & spouse living together at same address if they suspect you are calling from different phones and different dates ( I am one of the victims).

I have another question.

I am completing my 6 years of H1B by Jun 30 2002 and moving to different apt on Jun 28.
I talk to my employer and lawyer. According to lawyer there is no need to file for 7th year extention for H1B since I have EAD. At the same time I am moving to another place in town.

Is it really true that I don\'t need 7th year extention?
Can I work on EAD without any limitations?
What will be my legal status?

Thanks in advance.

changed address

finally changed address for me and my spouse by calling the IIO. and unexpectedly the IIO didn\'t ask for my spouse and on my request itself the address for my spouse was also changed without any questions.
