Gurus,

I just changed my address from one city to another city within the same state CT and updated over phone to BCIS for my I-485 and I-130 pending. Could you please tell me, how can I verify, they already updated my address? Is there any time frame change for the address change? Any answers will be highly appriciated.

Good luck to everybody.

Have you send change of address form AR-11? If yes then they will send you the confirmation of your change of address. Give them 15-30 days and call them back to varify.

Thanks! Where should I call? Do you have any phone number. I called bcis customer service, but they could't answer, because, they cannot see our information, they have only input permission.

Well this is new.
There is only one number to call USCIS and that is that 800#. And they should be able to see our information. Atleast the basic one like an address.
Try calling them again.
BTW I had used this 800# only for myself.

Please note that AR-11 will not change your address on any application. You need to call the customer service number to change your address on the application. AR-11 is a general purpose form (I still don't think it serves any purpose). Also, you will not get any confirmation for change of address with AR-11.

If you call the customer service and change the address over the phone, you will receive a confirmation (the letter will look similar to the Notice of Action) within 30 days.

Thanks

Oops! then the confirmation letter I received might be in response to my call. I thought it was in response to my AR-11 since I send it at the same time I called them. But in short you have to call as well as file AR-11 and you should receive a confirmation letter.

I changed my address over phone both for my I-485 and I-130. But in the mean time my local office Hartford, CT is going by July 15, 04 and my RD is July 28, 04. I don't know whether they already sent me a interview letter or not. In case if I don't get the interview letter, what will happen? Should I make a info pass to know about my status or is there anyway I can call my local office?

Thanks a lot to everybody. Good luck.

Not sure about calling to DO. My DO don't have any phone # that can help. If you have a feeling that they might have send you an interview letter, you should go to your DO ASAP and find out about it. Because if you will miss your interview, they will close your file.

Guys , I see, all of you are changing address. differently here. My experience was pretty smooth with that. +++ We changed address just a month before my interview. What we did:

1. Sent AR-11 to NBC (the address from where all APs, EADs etc come)
2. Sent Ar-11 to the address on the form itself
3. Sent I-865 to the Service Center with jurisdiction over place of residence( California, Nebraska, Texas, Vermont - whichever serves your area)
4. Sent a plain informative note to the Local Office, with my Alien #, Old, new address, and R#
5. Called the 800# both me and my husband to confirm change of address for I-485 and I-130.

Got a NOA only for I-865
Only calling the 800# doesn't work I guess, cause they ask you to send the actual forms AR-11 and I-865 to all those places "in writing"
That was pretty much it, Didn't have any problems, and by the time of my interview the address was already changed. The officer actually had even a separate folder with only papers for our change of address, stamped all over.
Hope that helps.

Very helpful info. Thanks. Never think of sending AR-11 to the places other than the address written on it. Will save this ifo for future.

Hi,

If you have registed in the the same immigration with your EAC numbers, you will get a mail by post and as well as in the Immigration registration services too.

I am guessing if the change in address results in the case changing DOs, it would waste some time? So, if you lived in the LA DO jurisdiction but moved to say San Francisco DO jurisdiction, I am guessing there is time lost because of the change. What has been the experience of those who have done that?

Also, I am guessing if the move happens early in the process where the case is still at NBC, the move probably does not cause of more time. Comments?
