Address Change - Will it Effect/Affect 485 Processing...

Folks,

I filed my I140/485 Concurrent filing at Vermont Center on Jan. 31st, 2003 and I got my I140 Approved on August 21st, 2003 after 2 RFE's. (I will write in a seperate thread about my I140 RFE's and how I addressed those issues to BCIS to get approved). At present, I am based in Washington D.C. and I come under Vermont Service Center. I have done my fingerprinting on March 14th, 2003 and 485 processing is being started by VSC. Now, my question is:

(1) I am planning to relocate to Dallas, Texas but am not changing my company. The company is same, the job is same except the job location which is for different project. If I relocate to Dallas and inform BCIS about the address change, Will my 485 continue to be processed in Vermont and later on will be moved to Texas for Stamping/Interview process? OR

(2) Will My entire file be immediately sent to Texas Service Center and they will process my 485 from beginning?

If Option(2), then TSC takes lot of time to process and it will be atleast 2 years that I will get my 485 Approved. Shall I continue to keep my Apartment in Washington D.C. and try to temporarily relocate to Dallas OR Shall I move to Dallas permanently and continue my 485 there as my Dallas project is for long-term (2 years)

Can anyone of you guys/gals help me if you have any experience as I am facing.

Thanks,
LILUS

Hi
I am moving from Cleveland to New Jersey, my parent company is same, so address is changing from NSC to VSC.

ANYBODY IN SAME SITUATION?

MY Q is :

If I move from NSC center to VSC center and my case processing restarts , then does the case gets transferred to LOCAL office in New Jersey or it will still be handled by NSC till the END?
-- If the I-140 or I-485 is filled with NSC then NSC may approve the case, they may also send the case to local BCIS office in NJ if any issues for interview only 5% cases are transferred to local BCIS

'cos if ur case gets TRANSFERRED to Local office there is 2-3 years wait?
---- Even those who are in VSC or NSC they all are waiting for more than 2 years, only BCIS can answer your question because in all the service center they have I-485 backlog, something is expected to be done in 2004 to reduce the backlog according to the information from different lawyers.

For EAD renewal, advance parole etc do I need to send request to NSC or VSC, I will be staying in New Jersey (VSC)?
---- NSC they have your file and if they transfer they will inform you. Always send EAD AP renewal with NSC 6 months advance and for EAD they need color copy of your driving license and first page of your passport that has your photo, DOB, PP #
The day you move to NJ you should:
1 file form AR11 for address change
2 send letter to NSC with copy of your I-485 receipt and EAD receipt, AP receipt and A # your complete name date of birth, write in the cover letter your past address and your new address, write the LIN# of each application pending with them and request to change your address for all the pending petitions/applications. Out side the envelope write in big bold letters” attention: change of address. Send the letter with return receipt all BCIS office don’t update the address immediately, keep the copy of every letter you send for address change
3 also inform NCSC by 1-800 # to update your new address
4 get new NJ driving license or ID and keep the copy of past driving license both the sides

Thanks for your help!

Hi Dhairya :

Thanks for your help. Today I confirmed with my lawyer and her email reads as :

My Question was : Will my 485 continue to be 'Processed' and get 'Approved' in Vermont and later on my case/file will be moved to Texas for Stamping/Interview process?

My Lawyer Replied as : Will be sent to Dallas only for Interview/Stamping.

My Question was : Shall I relocate to Dallas permanently?
My Lawyer Replied as : You can relocate now. No problem. Just make sure to file AR 11 for yourself and your wife separately.

So, I think we dont have a problem. I trust my present lawyer since she got my I140 Approved within 2 weeks after 2 RFE's from my previous lawyer.

Thanks,
LILUS
