Address Change Issue

Hi:

I became a permanent resident in 1997 and I have moved a couple of times since then, last time being 2001. I was not aware of this law until I heard it yesterday on the news. Is it enough to file AR-11 for just the last change in address or do I have to do it for all the address changes? Is it advisable to get an immigration attorney given the punitive posturing of INS and DOJ? Can some one please advise what I need to be doing? Your input will be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

U definitely need to file AR11

for the latest address.

In my opinion, if you file change of address for all the previous address changes now, you are inviting trouble.

A better strategy would be to file the latest address change with (latest) previous address. Although date of change of address is not a required column, please note that this form has undergone updates and the OMB number indicates the month/date in which this format was adopted....

If you are becoming paronoid or agitated, it is better to consult a lawyer.
