Hi Folks!
Planning to move? Change Apartment? In case you don\'t know about this
development, all of you guys in
the U.S. should read this and add this to your \'To Do\' list.

FYI, : This notice applies to ALL NON-IMMIGRANT and
IMMIGRANT (GREEN CARD holders) FOREIGN PERSONS IN THE UNITED STATES a
recent change in INS enforcement of an immigration law (section 265 of the
I&N
Act or 8 U.S.C. 1305).

This law requires every foreign person in the United States to notify
the Immigration and Naturalization Service (INS) within 10 days of any
address change. The INS will enforce this requirement and the penalty for
failure to report a change in address is arrest and deportation, and
possibly even
criminal prosecution.

You must report if:
1. You are a resident (visa or green card holder) and
2. You are 14 years of age or older (parents report children under 18 years
of age) and
3. You have moved or your address has changed from the address on file at
the INS.

Send the letter to INS by certified mail, so you have a proof!

You must file form AR-11, which can be downloaded from the INS Web site:

http://www.ins.gov/graphics/formsfee/forms/ar-11.htm

Thanks

What if you never advise the change address.

I came to US on H1 and I went to live in apartment A. Then I change from apartment A to B.
When in B I filed LC.
When the LC was approved and filed the I140 and I was already moved to my new house. I used the new address to file the I140.
I have filed I485 recently using the new address from my house but I have never notify INS of any change of address per se.

Do you think this will be a problem?

No Title

Can you please post the source of this information (apart from quoting "section 265 of the I&N Act or 8 U.S.C. 1305"). Is there any INS or any other site where this law is mentioned? If true, this is an important issue for all immigrants, so wondered how this law is not mentioned in any immigration sites or even in the NEWS. Can any body please confirm about this law?

Thanks.

How much will "change of address" during I485 delay the final approval?

After FP, we changed address and filed AR-11 according to our attorney. How much will this delay our final approval?
