Address after arrival

Hi Everybody,

I have straightforward question ..
The B.O POX address i have submitted in the earlier forms to receive the GC on it, do i have to stay at same city/county and consider it my home city ? i select Chicago where m uncle lives , and i will go to there, but my POE will be NY, then i will go to Chicago to receive my GC, so is it must to apply for SSN from Chicago ? and do the driving licence from there ? because maybe i have a plan to move to Florida after 2 weeks from my arrival date, there is a chance to have better opportunities on FL where i have a lot of relatives there.

please advise ..

No, you are not tied to Chicago or any place you entered on the forms for where you wanted your GC and SSN to go to. You are free to go where you need/want to live and work. Don't bother get your license in Chicago if you're not going to be there for long - it'll be a waste of time and money because you'll need a license in the state you settle in permanently. In fact, if you know you are going to Florida, and have an address of a relative there, change your address at POE to the Florida one. We did that. The forms said a San Diego friend's address but at our POE, we had a Florida address so we changed it then. Good luck!
 
By th way I think there may be a problem with using a PO box address for the send my GC to address. So you might need to change that anyway.

Not only potentially this could be a problem, it is already a big problem for you, no embassy on the globe would put you through with P.O. box, better start looking for a residential address

Thanks Guys,i understand that, you mean i have to give a full address, county/city/street/home No.
yes i gave all of that but i call it PO Box as shortcut.
Is that what you want me to take care of ? or there is any thing else related to may main topic?

Yes, there is. At the point of entry the customs office will probably ask whether you want to change address for the GC, but if he/she does not ask, do not wait for too long for him/her to ask, say it
