Additional Clearance/H1/Calgary

Hi,

I had an Interview in Calgary on 30th Apr for H1 Stamping,but was told that I need to wait for additional clearance.

Just need to know if, there is somebody like me in Calgary right now.

I came on B1 and changed it to H1 in 2002.Went to India and got it stamped. Try to get it transfered to other comapny but was denied in 2004.Then I went back to India and came back again on B1 and got H1 again from big company in 2005(500 people).Co has filed 1-149 for me.(I am only one guy in the comapny on H1)

(This is little brief history abt me)

Question asked by VO.After taking my finger prints.


1) VO : Do you work for company XXX?

Me: Yes sir.

2) VO : What does your company do?

Me: (Told them what ever we do briefly)

3) VO: Did the company filed GC for you?

Me: Yes Sir.

4)VO : Whats the current status of your GC application?

Me:Company has filed I-149 some time back.

5)VO :We need some additional clearance in this case.We will inform you.When were you planning back to go to US.

Me: Day after tommorow.

6)Vo :I am afraid you hv to change your plans and inform yr employer abt it.

Me: How much time is need to do these checks?

7)Vo : 2-4 weeks,We will call you on your cell,if we cudnt reach you on yr cell then we will send you email.Thank you.


Is there someone who can tell what does this mean?And how much time does it take for this kind of clearance?

My company is supportive of me.Is there somthing they can do in US for me?

VO gave me a letter that if called I need to send self address envelop with passport. I shoudnt be calling before atleast 2-4 weeks.(they have given calagry consulate no.)

Is this a standard letter given to everyone who are asked for additional clearance?

I am Indian and carry non-Muslim name.

(He didnt check with my job profile or anything,they grilled me on that last time in India before issuing H1).

Stuck in calgary..

So what's your question? Sounds like the visa officer answered your questions. He told you how long it might take, and he told you what to do: wait for the clearance. The clearance comes when the clearance comes, hopefully quickly, but sometimes not quickly. There's nothing the visa officer can do to make it faster, or to avoid the clearance altogether (unless he's willing to go to jail for you, which is unlikely). Good luck getting your clearance faster.
