Adding the H1 visa holders LAST NAME in spouses passport for H4 visa Stamping?

Do we need to add the H1 visa holders name in spouses passport before applying for H4 visa. Am looking to apply for h4 in Chennai consulate.

don't know wether it is MUST or not.....

but one of my freind told me that it's BETTER if she has her last name changed to your last name before going for H4.....

I have NO idea abt the process involved.....

can someone type down theri thoughts on this pls?......

Its not required. I had attended the h4 intervew in oct in chennai.

I have heard about this for the calcutta consulate. But in the following situation only

What i heard from experts is that if you are under the jurisdiction of Chennai consulate and is planning to go to Calcutta for h4(in case of emergency) then the spouse name has to be there in the passport.[i am not sure about this though]
