Add Wife in GC processing.

Hello,
I have filed my GC processing in PERM. I got my Labor cleared in 1 month and after that I had filed I-140 & I-485 concurrently in September 2005 as the priority dates were current. I got married in October 2005 and my wife came to US in December 2005. I was under the impression that Once I file for I-485, I cannot add my wife's name in my proccessing. But that time attorney assured me that I can add my wife's name till I-485 gets approved. So I filed it concurrently. Otherwise I could have filed only I-140 and would have waited for I-485. After marriage when I called her to add my wife's name to my processing, she said INS has stopped issuing the visa numbers and we have to wait till they start reissuing the visa numbers. My I-140 got approved last month in march 2006. As she is on dependent visa and my 6 yrs are getting over, I had filed for H1-B extension and they renewd my H1-B for another 3 years. Still I haven't added my wife's name in my GC processing. Now my attorney is saying even if you get your I-485 approved, I can add my wife's name in my processing. I am totally confused and I am not sure if this is correct.
I would appreciate if you could let me know what I should do in this case. Is there any way I can add my wife's name in my GC processing? OR I cannot add her name in my processing at all. I have to file her GC processing once I get my GC and that may take upto 4-5 yrs. Could you suggest any ways to handle this ?
Thanks & Regards,

Since you had married before I 485 approval, you can add your family at any time.

Suppose your wife is outside US, your I 485 is approved now, you can even include your wife in your approved petition. Your Attorney is correct

Oh Great news Great Guru.
But what about adding my wife's name in my processing now? My attorney is saying INS has stopped reissuing the Visa numbers. Once they start then we can add her name in my processing. What is that Visa number ? and why do we need it ?
