Case still pending

I talked to an IIO last week and was told that my case is on the shelf, when I asked why its on the shelf, she said that they are processing 12/2000 cases, then she figured out that my case is nov 2000, so she said that she will dispatch the case to an officer right now. What does dispatch the case means. Does it means that its been assigned to an officer? and how long it takes after that? Any info is greatly appreciated.
Any thoughts after 05/25/2001 JIT.

Generally the IIOs dont say that they will dispatch the case to an officer. This is good that the IIO said this without giving the usual crap that "please be patient, u have waited so long already". This is what every caller to the INS expects - "dispatch to officer". generally this means that the IIO will put in a written request and that will be given priority. they should pull you case out and process it if everything is okay. You might get your approval in a couple of weeks. Again this is a theory and not a fact.

thanks hariA, My EAD was approved in Feb \'01 but AVM was not updated, I checked today and found out that its been updated for my EAD approval. Looks like they have pulled out my file from the shelf and updated the EAD approval. I think the IIO actually did something, any thoughts. Thanks again for your reply.
