Action team - Volunteers for core team

Friends,

You all might be aware of all the activities we initiated here to address immigration applications backlog at USCIS. Now it is time to organize ourself and form a non-profit organization. Our current focus is on legal action against USCIS and Congressional campaign for GC processing delays.
Attorney Rajiv has agreed to be on Board of directors. Now we are planning to form a core team among our forum members to form this organization and move ahead with our objectives. I would like to have representation of atleast 2 members from each forum. It should be diversified ethnic group. Also team should have both men and women.

Please follow this thread and post your views.

We need representation from all the forums.

Update from Rajiv

We have spoken with the Bar and CitiBank.

It may be very complicated for us to hold your money and then pay ourselves or other people involved. As I have said earlier, paying ourseleves is not an issue. But I may want to hire another law firm to go in with us. That will make our lives a bit easier and probably help get the class certified from Court.

I asked our CPA Mr. Viajy Sharma to help. He was a full time consultant for our firm and now does our consulting as well has his own practice. In my opinion he is an honest man.

Vijay has agreed to open an account and hold your money. We can allow him to take reimbursement for his time spent on the effort and he can manage the accounting and disbursement. The only problem is, whose directions should he obey? For instance, who has the authority to say, spend on this, not that etc..

A much better option is to organize a 501c3 (non-profit corporation). I would be happy to be on the Board of Directors.

Discuss these issues here please.

In the interim, I have a team member looking only at a cause of action on which we can sue.

I will be in Chicago over the weekend. By next week we should have a direction to proceed.

I will have Sharma ji do it.

He was telling me we do not have to wait for the 501c3 status before we can start our activity. The incorporation in VA will take only 2-3 weeks.

I am thinking of incorporating ImmigrationPortal.ORG, Inc. as a non-profit. We own that URL. We could donate that to the community. No problem.

guys and gals,

To continue the effort of reducing the backlogs and to take any such action to improve the processing of 485 applications we need a strong team and from each Processing center.

We need atleast two persons from TSC. Surprisingly, even though TSC is the slowest among processing centers, I dont see much participation from TSC in these efforts to reduce backlogs.

Please join the effort. Represent your processing center.

CORE Team

tombaan and tr22,

I'm ND Aug 2001 and I guess tombaan is also 2001 applicant. How about tr22, whats your ND? Ideally we need one person from each year in the core team, so that the team remains active in future. What do you all think?

Good suggestion. I prefer these advocacy efforts to continue for long time rather than just short term goal.

How about those empty slots for 2003/2004??? any takers???? Anybody interested to join/volunteer for the team; please post in this thread.

I don't think anybody from 2000 is interested.

I'm distinguishing between CORE and VOLUNTEER because Edison has this vision in VSC forum. Correct me if I'm wrong. Also anybody willing to swap responsibilities... please post in this thread.

reply

IF they want less number of poeple on the core team I can be a volunteer. I can be called upon whenever for whatever.

Lets see how many 2003/2004 applicants show interest to join the core team. That would change the core team config. May be we should wait couple of more days before finalizing the team.

I hope the 2003 applicants realize that they would be ones who would benefit the most by better processing by TCS.

We (2001/2002) shd make them aware, educate the people who have just the filed their Labor to contribute and actively participate. They are the ones who will be filing in 2004.

I can tell from my personal experience, in 2000, I was just worried abt my labor and didn't think much beyond that. ALl i knew abt 485 process was it will be some time before my priority date would be current.

Most of the 2003 applicants don't even visit 485 forums. Based on the polls here most of the applicants here filed before mid 2002.
