Hello,

My current status is this

  1. I/my wife have our EAD
  2. I've my I-140 approved
    • My I-140 was previously filed along with I-485 before Aug/2007 rush
    • It is also a case of substitution, as an approved labor with my employer, was filed for substitution
  3. I've crossed more than 6-months in my I-485
  4. I recently received my new h1-b ( extention ) also
  5. My wife ( who had her ead thro' me ) is working with h1-b (new), not actually using ead

Now, I'd like to move on and find another job. I've consulted few friends but would like to get good directions. I'll consult an immigration attorney as well, as a follow up.

I've few questions
  1. Can I switch to a new job now ?
  2. What exactly would be the procedure, once I've my new job ?
  3. What are they supposed to do ?
  4. What documents do I need to give them, which I should have today ?

Please help - Thank you!

Excellent Resource.

I found this link to be very useful. Still, if any of you have any gotcha's, do's and don'ts, it'd be very helpful. Thanks.

    Yes

You have to show you new employer your EAD. The employer might ask you for a letter or email saying that you are solely responsible for you immigration status and not the employer.
  3. What are they supposed to do ?
Fill out I9 with EAD information
  4. What documents do I need to give them, which I should have today ?
    EAD

Please help - Thank you!
