I applied for N-400 in July. I have a priority date of July 30th. A month goes by and I opened a service request for my biometrics as I never received an appointment letter. About a month goes by and I call the 1800 number to see if there is any info re my service request. They tell me that they sent me an email (never received) that USCIS are reusing my fingerprints from when I had biometrics done for my I-751 in 2009. A month later I receive the yellow letter dated October 4th. I wait about two weeks call the 1800 number and I'm told by an I.O. that I'm in the queue for an interview. I call a month later (mid-November) and I'm told the same again. A service request was opened a week and a half ago to find out about my interview (so call number 3. Now unless they schedule my appointment in the next three weeks then I will be outside of processing times for my D.O. Philadelphia. Any advice? I live three hours away from Philadelphia and I cannot afford to loose a day of work for an info pass. I know it is an option and one which I might have to seriously consider. If I am outside of the 5 month time frame can I then contact a congressman? Any advice?

Wait until you are 30 days beyond the processing time before contacting the Congressperson or Ombudsman. If you apply before that, you'll probably just get a generic reply "USCIS says your case is not outside normal processing times" with no action, and you'll look like an impatient hound.
