hi

i have a question about the sponsor letter 'I-134'

i think that we have to show the sponsor W2 to the embassy with the sponsor ltter + his ID .........right ????

so which W2 should we have ,,,,the last W2 of the sponsor '2005' ,,or 2004 will be good ????????????

From Page 3 of I-134:

II. Supporting Evidence

As the sponsor, you must show you have sufficient income
and/or financial resources to assure that the alien you are
sponsoring will not become a public charge while in the
United States.
Evidence should consist of copies of any or all of the
following documentation listed below that are applicable to
your situation.
Failure to provide evidence of sufficient income and/or
financial resources may result in the denial of the alien's
application for a visa or his or her removal from the United
States.
The sponsor must submit in duplicate evidence of income
and resources, as appropriate:
Sections 1621(e) and 415(d) of the Social Security Act and
subsection 5(i) of the Food Stamp Act also provide that an
alien and his or her sponsor shall be jointly and severally
liable to repay any SSI, TANF or Food Stamp benefits that
are incorrectly paid because of misinformation provided by
a sponsor or because of a sponsor's failure to provide
information.
Incorrect payments that are not repaid will be withheld from
any subsequent payments for which the alien or sponsor
are otherwise eligible under the Social Security Act or Food
Stamp Act, except that the sponsor was without fault or
where good cause existed.
A. Statement from an officer of the bank or other financial
institution where you have deposits, giving the
following details regarding your account:
1. Date account opened;
2. Total amount deposited for the past year;
3. Present balance.
B. Statement of your employer on business stationery,
showing:
1. Date and nature of employment;
2. Salary paid;
3. Whether the position is temporary or permanent.
C. If self-employed:
1. Copy of last income tax return filed; or
2. Report of commercial rating concern.
D. List containing serial numbers and denominations of
bonds and name of record owner(s).

Good luck

Barbara

I would understand if you would add at the end "if there is no 2005 W2", otherwise your question has no logic.
Barbara's response gives you the complete list of supporting documents for I-134.
Try to be logical when asking a question!

I am not sure,but I think tax returns are a must only for I-864 form.
This form is used as affidavit of support for all other visa categories except DV.
For DV we'll need I-134 it's the same form that I got when I was applying for tourist visa.
But I read on travel.state.gov that you need tax returns only if you are using I-864.
Please double check this and let me know.
Cheers!!

P.S. Sorry if I am wrong

When filing a form first thing you need to do is to go through the instruction pages of that form. In Barbara's input you see "Supporting Evidence" part from the 3rd page of I-134. It asks for the last income tax return or report of commercial rating concern, if self-employed.

Can anybody guide me on a problem related to affidavit of support ( I-134)?
My US citizen sponsor prepared and sent the I-134 to me and eveything is fine except that my family name at item 3 of the form has been misspelled but the rest such as my first name , age,... and my dependents are all OK . Does it make a headache during the interview ? Is it necessary to ask a new I-134 from my sponsor ?

My sponsor has also put item 8 of the form blank. Is it OK?

Thanks for your help

You'll avoid a lot of headache, if you get a new one. Another option could be a letter-correction from the sponsor attached to the form (notarized, I presume). You might want to call KCC to make sure you're doing the right thing.
Item 8 should show the names of your sponsor's dependents that he/she includes in her tax returns. If your sponsor does not have any dependents, then it is OK. You can read about filling out I-134 here: http://www.immihelp.com/visas/visitor/i134.html.
