Hi Guys,
Found this forum recently.It's very helpful.
We recently summited 485 to TX center.
I heard that the traffic tickets can affect your 485, is that true?
I got a ticket for fishing without license. :o
Do you think that might affect my applications?

I believe DUI with serious accident, Reckless driving history with accident/death. (Not by mistake-one) are considered and erase flags.


No speed/parking/ or simple tickets like un-awarenees of somthing (tresspassing, etc) have any effect on it. so don't worry. in simple words anything not criminal a person is all fine.


Btw would u like to share ur 'fishing w/o license' story so other can learn before they do same.

POJ is correct. Only Criminal Arrest would count.

BTW, My freind who declared his criminal arrest upfront (on advise from his attorney) got his name check and FBI clearance done faster than mine (5 days). Maybe they did not wait for a hit as he had already given them the info.

Please for gods sake , Please do not get arrested to spped up your name check ....:)

Also Iam not an attorney and am just sharing experience....:)

I've been following your posts and I must say that I find your advice to be very useful.

I have been in a situation around 7 years back, just a week after I arrived in US. That was a short visit and we were staying with friends. We had no intentions of becoming permanent residents at that time. I had gone shopping with my 3 year old in a stroller. He was picking up things from the shelves and I put them back. I didn't buy anything, but when I walked out of the shop, there were some things in the stroller. The security guard caught me and took me to a room. I was very nervous and couldn't understand the accent very well. They took my photograph and details of my name and DOB from a diary I had in my purse. We were supposed to go back to our country in another 2 weeks, and I didn't want the police to turn up at our friend's house, so I gave them the wrong address. I tried explaining the situation to them. Finally, I think they may have thought that it could have been a mistake. So they let me go without calling the police.

We came back after 6 months and applied for GC 2&1/2 years back. My husband's GC got approved more than a year back, but mine is stuck in name check. Do you think that they could find a record of the above situation in any of their databases although I never got arrested or went to court.

About the fishing ticket.

It's really silly!
We went fishing last summer in a lake. My husband has a fishing licence and I don't, because I don't ever like fishing. He said he just wanted me to go hang out with him. And that day in the lake it was a lot of fish, I thought it's very fun. So I touched the fishing poll, just wanted to start fishing for a little bit. A water policemen came out and gave me a ticket......
I brought a license since that day, because I'm afraid I might get caught ever by sitting there with my husband......
Anyway, just want to let you guys know, I called my lawyer and asked about this. He got a good laugh about it: Who cares if you fish with a license or not.
They only care if you go fish and sell it for profit: like catch a ton of it and sell it without a license......He said I won't have any trouble have a speeding ticket, parking ticket, fishing ticket ...... they all minor.
I still think everyone should be careful about every little things......

Don't worry, First, this is NOT somthing that cause/reason not to grant you G.C just becz of that.

You shared u never convicted/arrested, your 485 is all fine,

You can't reverse, neither u can't undo whatever happened, all u need to stop/control the damages.

First thing first, You do understand the fact that what has happened. know u need to learn about that matter if it still open or closed or never exists in records, to find about it there are many pvt agencies who provide background check services, mostly online. its common service usually Land-lord/Apt rental/Empl use this service to find if in case....

Make sure u use only authorized and reliable agency. check Google and type "background check". research it all about them first before u give any info to them. pull the info out what do they say. its better to use more than one agency service.

if no record found, then u don't need to do anything

if they have what u fear for. You must talk to ur attorney about it.

Again u don't need to worry about it, max they would transfer ur case to local office and would ask u to follow their procedure, but they are not going u to denny , so relax.

share us what u found and what service u used so if other ppl are in same boat it may help.
