Hi guys,
I have to renew my RTD, it will expire on Feb. 2006 I need it for March 2006.
The question is, what if I apply for new RTD right now, and I get it in three months. so it will be Feb. 2006 and like two weeks after I get my GC appproved, what is going to happen to my RTD? Has anyone had any experience like this?
My NP has been expired, so I need re-entry permit in case If I get my GC.
Can I still travel with my RTD instead?
Whole punch rules which all go in Parallel, none of them follow the other one.(my opinion).
Appriciate all of your help in advance.
Regards,

I still travel on RTD with my Green card on hand, No one seems to be bothered by that. If you read the I-131 app it also has a check box that you are applying for an RTD while you got your GC based on asylum. You dont need reentry permit unless if you are gone for more than 6 months or so. RTD will do you just fine. Reentry permit is generally good for 2 years RTD is good for 1 year

Last time I renewed my RTD while other was still valid, I just wrote a letter explaining why I am applying before the one on hand expired. After 4 months I got my new RTD without any issues.

Regards,

If you get your RTD and then your GC approved, in the computer your status is changed to permanent resident..

When you come to the U.S, just show your GC and RTD(with asylee marked) and the officer should treat you as a PR and stamp your passport without sending you to the green room for the interview..

Rentry permit was created for everyone(not just asylee/refugee) GC holders..so as a previous asylee, if you have a GC in your hand, you have 2 choices: RTD(1 year validity) or Rentry Permit(2 year validity)..

Hi WantmyGCnow,
So when you come back with RTD and GC they won't question you anymore? What do you mean they will stamp on your passport, do you mean RTD? THX

Yes I think you can do that but i am not sure. I think someone posted a memo by the USCIS that derivates are ok to go back to home country...but before you travel make sure you have the memo in hand..in case you get in trouble.

Thx ur suggestion, I just heard somebody to refer it, but we don't have this memo on hand. If anybody knows please answer !
