actually my 1st term h4 expired on Oct 23rd of 2001 and I got a valid I-94 up to nov5thof 2001. I returned from India on Oct 15th of 2001 and the problem is it took up to Nov 25th of 2001 to reach my application to ins for extension. now I got query and they are asking why was I in illegal status for 20 days, and my lawyer is saying that i have to go to india for stamping is it so?
