I have visited Viet Nam five times, my first was in 1996. I have not yet visited Phu Quoc but can vouch for the thread of your article as I have seen such historic sites as the Cu Chi tunnels transmute from a quiet, peaceful memorial (albiet to a most savage, primitive horror) to a largely commercial "attraction". The world may think of Viet Nam as a communist country but the reality is laisser - faire enterprise. Incidentally, the writer refers to "the" Vietnam war - presumably meaning the American war. In fact THE (definite article) Viet Nam war was fought between the mid 1800s and 1954 . In other words the French war in Viet Nam. Plus there have been many other wars over the past millennium and way before the US was a nation.
