About date of entry

Forum,

I have one question and is just to clear any doubt regarding paperwork. Everytime the USCIS asks for Port of entry and date of entry in any application, do we have to write the date when we actually arrived to this country ( in I-94) or the date from the new I-94 that is given to us when we are aproved asylum?

After Asylum approval and obtaining I-94, write last arrival into the US (on your national passport or whatever). But once you start traveling on RTD then write the last date you entered US on RTD.

Lazerthegreat, I still don't have clear the idea. I came to this country with F-1 visa and I got an I-94, then I received the asylum and that's another I-94. So, I should be writing everywhere when they asked me for last date of entry the date of my asylum I-94 for right?. I have never applied to RTD.

No Arizona_Poet! The day you received Asylum based I-94 is NOT the last day you entered into the country. CIS does not have any other mechanism than I-94 to issue proof of status, thats why they issue I-94 card with Asylum approval. (I know its a little screwed up). What they ask you is your physical entry into US. In your case it would be entry you made on your F-1 visa. Also in future, you would write physical entry when asked "last entry into US" (that Asylum based I-94 is just a proof document, nothing to do with arrival/departure - because you don't even surrender that when you leave US on RTD from now on)

hope this is clear now
