I had AP about expired, and I asked BCIS if I can apply the new AP now, then travel outside US by using old AP, and come back before my old AP is expired so that I can pick up my new AP in US. Then I can travel out of US again.
Officer-1: As long as you return US before the expiration date of your old AP, you'll be fine, because those are two separated applications.
Officer-2: You have to return your old AP when you file the new AP. (What the heck ??@@!) I carefully checked the instruction of I-131/AP, there's no such requirments.
---Please point it out if any one knows it or has the experience of renew AP.
Officer-3: You have to return your old AP when you file the new AP. (it seems not a coincidence, I just can not find the fine prints). However, if you want to use your old AP to travel, make an appoitment with ASC, and get a permit (or stamp, something like that) to use your old AP to come back.
even though the O3 sounds reasonable, I still doubt what should be the right thing to do, anyone has the similar situation please contribute.
Thanks.
