abort H4 stamping midway?

My wife has an approved H4 that needs to be stamped. But her expired H4 stamp on passport is more than a year old. She is leaving for India in a couple weeks. we have just filed our 485/AP(not approved).

1)Will she need a personal appointment at the chennai consulate, or is she still eligible for dropbox? (TT services website was a bit confusing on this)

2)if she sends the dropbox in november, approx. which month can she expect the interview?

3)is it advisable to book an appointment from the web right away and forget about using the TT services?

4)My documents are in order. But if there is too much delay or if there are RFEs etc., is it possible to abort the process by say, not responding to the RFE (hope to return using AP in this case, eventhough the latest sheela murthy bulletin suggests that is a bad idea).

5)Most importantly, will her passport and other docs be tied up at the chennai consulate for months, even when they send an RFE?

thanks a million

hey
If possible wait till your wife's AP get approved. GO to CHENNAI only if you have all the docs in -order, re check every thing,i thought my docs were in order when i applied for my wifes VISA to find out there are minnors issues only after RFE. IT took my lawyer 5 months to sort every thing out and get h4 for my wife. AP' is getting approved in like a month and half at NSC. My wife got her AP approved in 50 days, so if you can wait till she gets the AP, an RFE would delay her return for more than that

Just an FYI, don't take any responsibility

thanks zipper. i'm worried and confused about choosing between two evils
-the risk of leaving on h4(AP unapproved) and returning on AP
vs
-delay/rejection due to chennai consulate's notoreity

would anyone know about the answers to my specific queries below?

thanks

try for an drop off box appointment using web, if not eligible take an appointment. Although many new cases dont require an interview nowadays, the queue has not cleared yet in chennai.
It is okay to leave on h4 and come back on AP.

If h4 is refused /delayed in chennai and she has the AP approval, there is no harm in withdrawing h4 and using AP.

thanks jaxen.

from the tts website, it looks like she cant qualify for dropbox (becos visa stamp on passport expired more than a year ago). but there are enough slots/dates available for interview in nov/dec (january dates are not enabled yet). i just took an appt. for december.

thanks again
