Hi,
My I140 just got approved.
Do people have to go interview first and then get I485 approval/rejection?
or, to put it other way, is interview a necessary process for everyone?
When someone posted that their LUD showed I485 approved, does that mean no interview is needed anymore?

Please, help me get out of the confusion.
Thanks and have a nice weekend

You can get approved / rejected w/o interview from USCIS office (i.e. VSC, CSC etc ).

If case is transferred to local INS office then an interview is taken and after that approval or rejection happens.

I'd also add that as far as employment based cases go, the vast majority of people are approved without an interview. In the 2003 tracker, only 1.6% of cases have been transferred so far and I could be wrong but I believe that even if your case is transferred you don't necessarily end up having an interview?
