I have a question: do I need to be in US when my I485 get approved? I am planning to go out of country next week and I am still in waiting line for the I-485 approval. I just wonder that what happens if my case (or my wife's case) get approved when we are out of country?

You should be good. There are many in the forum who got approved while away and returned using AP. Experienced guys am I correct?

Hi ,
rav oranges is right , the AP will give you some freedom ( consult your lawyer first ) !!! Good luck and enjoy your trip !!!

I checked with my lawyer. he is telling me that when I am out if my I-485 get approved I will not be able to use my AP and I need my original I-485 approval as a legal permanent residant?!?! so what the helllllll then what is the use of AP then? this can happen anytime when you are trying to use AP. please let me know your opinion...
Advance Parole is sufficent.

Dude

My case was approved on sept 5 and at that time i was in india. I came back using my AP everything is fine i got my cards. I even told the immigration officer that my 485 has been approved.

If u still have a doubt get a print out of the approval when entering US.

Good luck with ur journey

I am almost positive your attorney is wrong in this advice.

One can use AP to re-enter the country even though I-485 approved.
