A question on H1-B transfer

Hi, can someone please tell me what all documents are needed in order to get an H1-B visa transferred?

My employer's lawyer sent me a pdf version of the H1-B receipt after a few days of filing my H1-B petition. On the pdf copy, on the top right hand corner it says "I-797, Notice of Action", and under the description I have the receipt number and Case type as I129. When I recently tracked on the USCIS website using my receipt number, I came to know that my H1-B was approved, and a notice was sent to the lawyer.

Now in the future, if I want to get my H1-B transferred to some other employer, will I need that notice of approval from the lawyer, or will the pdf receipt that I have be sufficient. Also, do I need to get the original receipt, or the pdf copy should be fine.

I will really appreciate if someone can answer this question, as it will be of real help.

Thanks..!!

The employer is legally not suppose to with-hold your I-797 approval notice. He must hand over the original to you.

I filed my H1 through a consultant, and so am not sure how to ask for my original documents.. I just want to know if it is possible to get the transfer with the photocopies of the documents, or I need the original papers. Also, I just have the I-797 receipt with the petition, but the USCIS website already shows that my H1 petition is approved, and my lawyer also confirmed that. But the lawyer did not send the photocopy of the approval to me, so am confused that if I manage to get a full time job, will my consultant create any problems in giving me my papers.. And if so, will I be able to transfer my visa using the photocopy of the receipt?

Please help if possible.. as this is really important for me.. Thanks.!!

Thank you for the reply, but the question still holds "Are the Photocopies sufficient to get the transfer, or do I need originals? Also, only the receipt will suffice, or do I need the approval letter as well?"

Will really appreciate if you can reply to this query.. Thanks..!!
