A-number

Hi all, this is probably a stupid question. But I really like to get confirmation from those experts.

Is A-number the number on the I-94 card? My mother has B1/B2 visa and according to the information I read so far, it is said that she should not have one. So I guess it is not the number on I-94, right? and I should just leave A-number blank when filling the forms? Thanks a lot!

The A-file is the main administrative file (also called an Alien file) for someone who is an immigrant or who has been placed in removal proceedings. It is the number usually associated with an immigrant's immigrant visa and greencard.

The I-94 has an admission number which is also tracked by DHS. The actual visa in the passport is a visa number.
