A lot of travel for work - issues?

I travel to EU for work for two or three weeks at a time for the last few months. I have a GC, which I'd like to maintain obviously and I would also like to apply for Citizenship without delays.

Does this kind of absence pose any issues?

Thanks for taking a look at this post.

It shouldn't, as long as you stay more days in the US.
If you're on the US payroll and pay rent here, then it's even stronger evidence.

Plenty of evidence but I don't even want to encourage stupid questions from imm officers, etc.

In this calendar year, all my trips may sum up close to six months. Only one about 4 weeks long, all rest 2-3 weeks.

But if we start from mid-2009 to say mid-2010, I may be 200-250 days out of country in total.

Does that violate any retention rules? Does it have negative impact on naturalization timeline?

Thanks for viewing.

Once you travel that much, your situation probably will attract probing questions from immigration officers at the port of entry and/or naturalization interview. You have to collect the evidence and be prepared to deal with the questioning, but at the end of it all your travel pattern should not block you from naturalization. You're returning to the US frequently, and presumably maintain a house or apartment and so on.

So, I'm not throwing anything out. What evidence would you suggest to keep?

I hear, I need to know all my in/out dates. That'd be a pain in the @$$.

That pain might be smaller than the pain CIS can give you if your records are not straight. Maintain a spreadsheet for your trips - use the same format as in N400 form, it will be easy to fill the form later.

Even if you were not borderline, you still need to report all these trips when naturalizing so better maintain them now.

Evidence:
You file taxes in US (and if you earn somewhere else, you report them in US)
You maintain residence (bank accounts, house/apartment)
Purpose of the trips - Maybe you are getting paid in US with only per diem during your trips - a letter from employer asking you to make these trips
Insurance in US continuing during your absence

and check

I'll check out the N400 and start that list. Thanks for the tips.

From the point of GC retention, does anyone see any issues?

This posts will help me a lot while i will apply for the citizenship.Yes it is always better to keep everything ready for the question. Thanks for informing.

I also travel a lot out of US. But i did not face any kind of problem from the officers. But make sure to collect a letter from your employer stating that you are staying out of US for official purpose.
