A holder of high school diploma with low paid job can get the immigrant visa ?

I'm just the high school diploma holder and currently working at the hotel as the chinese restaurant captain.My salary is about US$1000 per month.Someone said that the main purpose of the DV lottery is to give the chance to those who are high educated and have professional skills like doctor,engineer,computer software programmar,computer engineer etc !Is that true ??? :eek:

Wrong! I don't know where you hear that. If you look at the DV lottery requirement, it only required you to have a minimum of a high school diploma or a 2 years job experience.

One of the reason that the U.S government running the DV Lottery program is to give a chance for people who are not qualified under other immigrant visa or working visa to get a Permanent Resident in the U.S.

What you heard is the H1B visa or the U.S working visa. It is designed to give people who are highly skilled or have a special skills in occupation like doctor, engineer, computer software a chance to work in the U.S and eventually become Permanent Resident.
